The trek commences at Rongai Gate, where climbers start their ascent through lush rainforests rich in flora and fauna. Hiking for around 3-4 hours leads to Simba Camp, offering the first overnight stay and a tranquil setting amidst the forest.
The trail continues through the rainforest, gradually transforming into moorlands with sparse vegetation. Climbers trek for approximately 3-5 hours to reach Second Cave, a serene campsite offering a comfortable spot for the night.
The journey proceeds through expansive moorlands and grassy slopes. After trekking for roughly 6-7 hours, climbers arrive at Kikelewa Cave, situated in an elevated location with striking views of the surrounding landscape.
The trail ascends further, passing unique rock formations and panoramic vistas. Trekking for about 4-6 hours brings climbers to Mawenzi Tarn Camp, nestled near a picturesque alpine lake, with stunning views of Mawenzi Peak.
The trek proceeds across the lunar-like landscape of the Saddle, a vast desert-like plain between Mawenzi and Kibo. Climbers hike for approximately 4-6 hours to reach Kibo Hut, the base camp situated close to the summit.
The summit attempt begins in the early hours, navigating steep scree slopes to Gilman's Point before reaching Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After savoring the accomplishment, climbers descend to Horombo Hut for a well-earned rest.
Elevation: 3721m/12,208ft to 1905m/6250ft Altitude lost: 1816m It's time to say goodbye after breakfast and a sincere ceremony celebrating teamwork and appreciation with your colleagues. After pausing for lunch at the Mandara Huts, we resume the descent. Given that you will be leaving them here, don't forget to tip your guides, cooks, and porters. You receive your summit credentials as you make your way back to the Marangu Park Gate. Gaiters and trekking poles are highly advised because the terrain is damp, muddy, and steep and because the weather has suddenly warmed up. A car will be waiting for you at the entrance to take you back to your hotel in Moshi (this will take around 45 minutes). Enjoy a hot shower that has been overdue, food, and festivities!As you take a quick nap here, the sun rises. The sunrise can be seen from the peak by more rapid hikers. From You're likely to run into snow the entire time you climb the final hour to Uhuru Peak.
